V8 Ranch is owned by Sloan and Mollie Williams, who work with their children Jim and Jan to continue the V8 tradition of high quality cattle and horses. Jim, Luann, Rachel and Catherine Williams work with the registered Brahman and Shorthorn herds. Jan, Terry and Payton Powell manage the ranch's horses and train horses of their own.

Working together as a family over the past 30 years, the V8 brand has gained worldwide respect for producing high quality Brahman cattle and Shorthorn cattle. The success of V8 Ranch can be attributed to the superior genetics, but also the people behind the brand.  Get to know the V8 family a little better....
V8 Ranch is owned by Sloan and Mollie Williams, and they are assisted by their two children Jim and Jan, and their families. Sloan and Mollie purchased the V8 herd from Mr. Howard Parker in the early 1970s. Before this time, they owned and operated Cervi-Williams rodeo stock contracting business with partner Mike Cervi. Mollie grew up on the J.D. Hudgins Ranch as the daughter of Lanier and Ann Forgason, the original creators of Forgason Division.

In 1976, Jim graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in animal science, and he and wife Luann returned to the ranch. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, they managed the V8 show cattle and traveled all across the United States showing some of the early V8 greats like Miss V8 104/2, Mr. V8 777/2 "Titan", Miss V8 617/2 and several others.

In 1982, Jan and Terry Powell returned to the ranch to assume the responsibilities of the V8 Horse Division. Over the years the V8 horses have made great ranch and rodeo horses, including being rode at the PRCA National Finals. Several well known horsemen and women ride a V8 horse, including barrell racing great Kay Blandford and also George Strait.

From 1986-1988, V8 Ranch also joined the Brahman history record-books when +Mr. V8 202/3 became the breed's only 3-time National Champion and 2-time International Champion bull. After this stellar show career, 202 went on to sire some of the breed's recent greats, such as JDH Madison de Manso 737, Mr. V8 666/3, Miss V8 666/3, and hundreds of other superior animals around the world.

In 1987, Rachel became eligible to show in the junior Brahman circuit, and spent 10 years with one of the most successful junior show careers of Brahman history. Catherine begain showing Shorthorns in 1990, and holds the breed record of exhibiting three junior national champion females, as well as several other championships. Both girls continue to be active in the open show circuit now; with Rachel primarily helping with the Brahman show cattle and Catherine with the Shorthorns.

The Williams family strongly believes in giving back to the beef industry and especially youth. V8 Ranch is happy to support junior Brahman and Shorthorn organizations and awards a scholarship each year to a graduating senior member of the Texas Junior Brahman Association. Jim, Rachel, and Catherine assist many youth by giving showmanship clinics and advice to FFA and 4-H members. Both Jim and Sloan judge numerous shows for different beef breeds but enjoy working with the juniors the most. Jan and Terry also assist young rodeo competitors with riding and roping lessons.

Sloan is a past president of the American Brahman Breeders Association and Jim is currently serving as vice president. Each year he represents Brahman breeders at Houston by talking all the sale cattle at the International Brahman sale. Jim has been extremely involved in beef organizations in the past ten years, serving as past chairman of the Texas Beef Council, President of the American Shorthorn Association and Texas Brahman Association. Both Jim and Luann have served 4 years as advisors to the Texas Junior Shorthorn Association and are active supporters of the Texas Junior Livestock Association.

The third generation of the family is active in agriculture and plans to uphold the standard of excellence that V8 Ranch is known for. Rachel and Catherine Williams are actively involved in the beef industry. Both products of the Texas A&M University animal science department, Rachel went on to receive a master's in agricultural communications from Michigan State University in 2003 and is now the owner of Ranch House Designs, an award-winning agriculture advertising agency. After finishing up at Texas A&M, Catherine returned to V8 to help manage the office as well as assist with the marketing and promotion of the V8 Shorthorns herd. She also works for Ranch House Designs. Both girls are past presidents of the Texas Junior Shorthorn Association. Rachel is a past president of the American Junior Shorthorn Association, and Catherine recently retired from a 3-year-term on the AJSA Board of Directors. Payton Powell, the 8-year-old daughter of Jan Williams Powell and her husband, Terry, is also a very important part of the daily ranch operations. Outside of her duties managing the ranch's "nurse pen," Payton is also a state champion YRA barrel racer.

The success of the V8 show cattle has been well documented, and greatly influenced by the contributions of some of the best herdsmen in the Brahman breed, including Dave Sagabiel, James Daniell, Russell McDade, and Larry Fisher.
