V8 Ranch Maintains Strong Ties to Junior Exhibitors

July 17, 2020

V8 Ranch has always maintained a strong presence in junior shows, as we have decades of active involvement and support. V8 Ranch genetics claimed its first All-American title in 1985 and 20 championships later, claimed the grand female and reserve grand bull title at the 2019 All American Brahman Show, which is the national junior Brahman show held each summer.

“We know first-hand from our family’s personal participation in junior shows that these are tremendous vehicles for education, life skills, making life-long friends and often sets a young person on the path to owning a registered Brahman herd,” said Jim Williams of V8.

V8 genetics continue to excel throughout junior show competition at all levels—from the county fairs to the national arena of the All American, as well as across Texas at the majors. In addition, V8 heifers bring the breed’s top genetics and built in name recognition to a junior‘s herd, if they decide to retain the heifer after her show career is over.

“We offer our show heifer prospects twice a year and have them sorted by price levels. Our family and entire ranch staff enjoy helping a family select a heifer as a show project. But what we like even more is receiving reports of how the heifer is doing and how the young exhibitor matures alongside the heifer,” stressed Williams adding that now the ranch is selling show heifers to the next generation of many families and underlines V8’s long-term commitment to the breed and the trust families place in V8 Ranch.
